Press Release

A brand new mobile phone app, which is to transform the way mental health knowledge is understood and delivered has launched on the App Store.

In a short space of time, the app has been featured on the App Store in the U.S. in Apple's 'New Apps We Love' category.

'Mental Health Awareness' is an app by Healthy Minds Online, which is an informative and entertaining mobile tool that covers a wide range of topics related to mental health and wellbeing that can affect people from all walks of life. Some of the subjects include stress, depression, anger management and domestic abuse.

The app, which can be used with any iOS device, will provide users with a combination of courses, activities, tips and techniques. Each course has been tested by Healthy Minds Online's founder, who was plagued with depression and stress, during his career.

Healthy Minds Online is the fruit of more than two years worth of research and development. The result is a useful, accessible and effective tool, with a number of self-paced courses designed with guidance from a private counselling and therapy practice.

Mayuir Sidhpara, Founding Partner of Healthy Minds Online, said, "The discourse surrounding mental health is becoming much more widespread and open with each passing year, but there is still so much to do to completely remove the stigma that is attached to it. My hope is that the launch of our app will encourage more conversation and increased awareness about mental health and my aim is to help shatter some of the negative misconceptions that those suffering with mental illness face".

"Users will be able to engage and learn about mental health using a wealth of information and resources directly from the app. Information is presented in a range of different formats and is designed to be easily digestible".

"As mental health becomes more common and more widely understood, there is a greater need for more information to be available that is contemporary and is presented in a way that people can understand. Because more and more people are using apps as opposed to buying books or seeking help, this is a great way to get this generation on board with tackling mental health and understanding what they can do to help themselves, as well as others."

With new studies revealing over a third of young adults feel that their mental health deteriorated over the past year, there has never been a more crucial time to get the younger generation on board and engaged in conversations about mental health and made more aware of treatments, resources and tools that can help them to cope and build resilience.

Healthy Minds Online is making a conscious effort to engage with a wide spectrum of people with the app’s content written to appeal to a wide audience ranging from 12-years-old through to adulthood.

The content has also been designed with the classroom setting in mind and could easily be integrated into lessons and discussions by teachers.
